When my grandparents visited me in Miyazaki, we took a little trip to Nagasaki, Japan. Our hotel was on one of the tallest hills, and let me tell you- the view did not disappoint. This is another one of the pictures where the camera doesn’t do the picture justice. The view from our hotel room was spectacular. Nagasaki has a lot of hills, therefore it makes it a bit tricky to navigate. Nagasaki is also one of the first places Christianity and Christian churches were introduced in Japan. While we were there, we went visited a bunch of museums that taught about all of the history.

Something else I experienced in Japan was running my first full marathon in Kobe, Japan of all places! Running a full marathon had always been on my bucket list, but such a far fetched goal that I never thought i’d actually do it. Low and behold, 42.16K, and 5hr8min later ya girl ran her first marathon. This picture was probably taken in the early stages of the run as you can see by my smile. Because, let me tell you……I was NOT happy towards the end…haha. All I could think about was finishing and my legs not falling off. But, it really is true when they say that marathons are addictive. After this marathon I was convinced that I was never going to run again, I disliked running so much after all the training it took for this marathon. HOWEVER, after I got out of that slump, I signed up for two more half marathons the following two months. Crazy, I know!

This photo honestly does this volcano NO justice. This is Mt. Aso in Kumamoto, Kyushu. When I got to the top here all I could smell was sulfur. At the bottom, you could see the boiling lake? I’m not sure what it was exactly, but it didn’t look like magma. It looked like blueish/ yellowish liquid. Honestly, such a cool place to visit!
